Japan is slightly larger than Germany, or just smaller than the U.S. state of Montana. The tallest mountain of japan is mount fuji which is also an active volcano. mount fuji has an elevation of 12,388 feet (3,776 meters). japan is located in the ring of fire, which is one of the world's most active volcanic area. some of the largest rivirs in japan are the yoshinogawa, ara-kawa, mogami-gawa, chickugo-gawa, fuju-kawa, shimanto-gawa, ishkari-gawa, shonai-gawa, and watarase-gawa. japans has four major islands: hokkaido, honshu, shikoku, and kyushu. The main vegetation in Japan is growing green forests and desert plants. There are also rain forests with various kinds of mulberries. The coastal dunes are dominated by pine trees and coniferous trees are mixed with deciduous vegetation ( trees that are shedding their leaves annually). in southwestern Hokkaido and occur in the higher portion of central Honshu and Shikoku. some of the japanese wildlife: wild macaque monkey, tanuki, wiild boar, squirrels, bears, wild cats, sable, red fox, serow, spider crab, etc. The soils of Japan are customarily divided from northeast to southwest into a weak podzolic (soils with a thin organic mineral layer over a gray leached layer) zone, a brown earth zone, and a red earth zone. the climate of japan varies like in the south it feels like tropical( warm), but in the north it feels cold and breezy.
